"This evolution is due to the slight increase in the mobile telephony market on the one hand, and in the Algerian population on the other," explains ARPCE, whose report was drawn up on the basis of an estimated Algerian population of 44.22 million and an estimated number of households of 7.37 million on December 31, 2023.
The number of mobile telephony subscribers is expected to increase by 5.11%, from 49 million on December 31, 2022 to 51.52 million in the same period of 2023, according to the report quoted by APS.
In terms of mobile operators, Mobilis remains in the lead in terms of GSM, 3G and 4G network subscribers at December 31, 2023, with 22.51 million subscribers, followed by Djezzy (15.89 million) and Ooredoo (13.10 million), notes ARPCE.
More than 6.32 million fixed-line subscribers were registered in Algeria on December 31, 2023, compared with 5.57 million for the same period in 2022, an increase of 13.42%, according to the ARPCE report.
The penetration rate for fixed-line telephony has also risen (+1.67% in the space of a year), from 12.63% at the end of the 4th quarter of 2022 to 14.30% in the same period of 2023.
