The Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, has appointed Noureddine Daoudi as CEO of Sonatrach, replacing Rachid Hachichi. This appointment is part of a strategy to revive the Algerian energy sector, with five major areas of focus: increasing national natural gas production, developing petrochemicals to increase added value, expanding international partnerships (particularly with Chevron and ExxonMobil), accelerating the energy transition, and modernization through digital technology and artificial intelligence. Daoudi, a recognized expert with over 35 years of experience, has been praised for his skills in exploration, strategic partnerships, and digital transformation. The minister expressed his confidence in Daoudi's ability to strengthen Sonatrach's position as a key player in energy security and national development.
