Sonatrach has selected two candidates in a call for tenders for the Integrated Phosphate Project (IPP): Italy's Saipem and a German firm already announced by Sonarem. The two companies are responsible for carrying out a parallel FEED (Front End Engineering Design) study, which will serve as the basis for the final selection of the partner responsible for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) works.

The project calls for designing an industrial complex including phosphate processing units at Bled El Hadba and Oued Keberit, modernising the Annaba port, and linking the mining sites to the main rail line. Sonatrach will select the most technically and economically competitive bid. This strategic project, carried out with Sonarem, will extract 10 million tonnes of phosphate and produce 6 million tonnes of fertilizer per year, marking a key milestone for the national economy.
