The Algerian insurance sector performed well in the first half of 2025, with total revenue of 99.3 billion dinars, up 8.1% compared to 2024. Property and casualty insurance dominated the market, accounting for more than 81% of the market share, with a particular focus on the automotive sector, which contributed nearly half of this activity. This sector grew by 8.4%, driven by increases in civil liability rates (+30%) and growth in "all risks," "theft and fire," "collision," and "assistance" coverage.
The agricultural (+18.8%) and transport (+5.4%) industries also recorded significant increases. Personal insurance reached 12.1 billion Algerian dinars, despite a sharp decline in travel insurance (-46.1%) due to visa restrictions.
Finally, reported claims increased by 9% to 51.1 billion dinars, while compensation paid stood at 35.9 billion dinars, a 12.1% increase.
