Baladna project: Arkab and Qatari delegation discuss energy connection
The Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, received in Algiers on Thursday a delegation from the Qatari company “Baladna”, led by the Chairman of its Board of Directors, Mohamad Moutaz Al-Khayyat, to examine the energy connection component of the integrated Algerian-Qatari project for the production of milk powder in the wilaya of Adrar, according to a Ministry press release.
The meeting, held at the ministry's head office, focused on the file of the Algerian-Qatari integrated project for the production of dried milk in the wilaya of Adrar, particularly concerning the connection of this project to energy (electricity and gas), "which is one of the main conditions for the success of this strategic project", according to the same source.
During this meeting, a detailed presentation was made of the projects planned and the solutions proposed for the production, transport and transformation of electricity in the short, medium and long term, depending on the needs of the project, in the presence of the advisor to the President of the Republic in charge of finance, banking, the budget, foreign exchange reserves, public procurement and international regulations, Mohamed Boukhari, the CEO of the Sonelgaz Group, the Ambassador of the State of Qatar, as well as executives from the Ministry and Sonelgaz.
In this context, Mr Arkab reaffirmed "the strategic importance of this project, which is the fruit of the cooperation and privileged partnership between Algeria and the State of Qatar, a brotherly country", stressing that "all the necessary measures have been taken by Sonelgaz, which, following a technical study, has launched a series of projects to build electrical transformers on-site", according to the same source.
The meeting was also an opportunity to explore business and investment opportunities for the Baladna company in Algeria, as well as for Al-Khayyat Group companies in various sectors, including energy and mining.
At the same time, the Minister of Energy and Mines "expressed his desire to develop new partnership projects with Qatari partners, wishing them success in this flagship project and the Algerian-Qatari partnership", according to the press release.
