Towards mechanisms to allow farmers who have received subsidized loans to defer the payment of their debt

In a press statement on the sidelines of the 4th National Forum for the Development of the Cereal Sector, organized at Malek-Haddad Culture House, Mr. Bensaid said that "several proposals have been studied to find solutions to the problems encountered by professionals in the agricultural sector", adding that meetings on the deferral in question were held with the heads of banks specializing in financing farmers.

The same official added that this provision is part of the measures initiated by the Ministry to promote the sector, such as the provision of all agricultural inputs (seeds and fertilizers) to farmers for the 2023-2024 plowing season, the granting of incentive loans, as well as compensation to farmers affected by losses caused by climate disturbances.

According to Bensaid, Algeria is now actively gaining food self-sufficiency, moving towards exports through the optimal exploitation of agricultural land, particularly in the Saharan areas, and investing in people.
