In a press release, the WTCA states that this is "a highly topical issue that opens up completely new and radically innovative perspectives in a country where traditional consumption models are tending to give way to a mode of consumption in line with the trends and demands of a population of well-informed consumers eager for quality products, availability and diversified offers".
Three Swiss experts will participate in the symposium to share their expertise and enrich the discussions.
The subject, the press release, "provides an opportunity for reflection, debate and exchange between representatives of the trade authorities and experts on the fundamental issues at stake in the development of this sector in Algeria". The WTCA also notes that the event will focus on the guidelines and announcements made by those in charge of the sector, who are encouraging investment in the construction of large shopping centres and the development of mass retailing in a country with a fast-growing population. The Algerian government has embarked on "an ambitious and unprecedented programme of economic and social development to place Algeria at the forefront of prosperous nations". Demographic growth, social organisation, the constant improvement in living standards, changes in consumption patterns and the exacting demands of consumers in a society eager for efficiency, the same source points out, call for "a necessary and desirable reflection on global trends and developments and an examination of the best ways of investing in the creation of major distribution infrastructures and a profitable and efficient model for organising the retail trade in Algeria".
The issue of training is also "an important theme in the discussions, given the major contribution it makes to the optimal management of the retail sector".
