Algeria is strengthening its economic relations with Mauritania by constructing the Tindouf-Zouérate road, an 840 km structuring project designed to facilitate trade and open up the regions it crosses. Supervised by an Algerian engineering firm, this milestone project is being executed in two phases over 30 to 40 months.
Algeria in the international arena is scheduled for completion in two phases over 30 to 40 months.
The road will serve as a major economic lever, creating free-trade zones, tax exemptions for Algerian and Mauritanian goods, and simplified customs procedures.
As part of a long-standing cooperation, this project is accompanied by fixed border posts, service stations and support infrastructure, managed by Algerian companies such as Naftal. The initiative illustrates the desire of both countries to strengthen regional integration and make Algeria a gateway to West Africa.
