Sonarem: A school for mining trades to be set up in Aïn Taya by 2026

Sonarem Ettakwine, a subsidiary of the Sonarem mining industrial group, has announced opening a school dedicated to mining trades in Ain Taya (Algiers) by the end of 2026. This structure, which will be able to accommodate 300 learners, is designed to strengthen skills in the sector and meet the growing need for qualified manpower, according to the company's General Manager, M'hidi Djebbar.

Work. The company also plays a strategic role in supporting the country's major mining projects. In the case of the Gara Djebilet iron ore deposit, Feraal workers were trained for the project's large-scale launch. By 2025, between 200 and 250 workers will be recruited and trained to ensure its development.

For the Tala Hamza-Amizour zinc and lead deposit (Béjaïa), 11 young people benefited from a theoretical and practical training program in the Sétif underground mines. Another session was organized in Amsmissa (Tamanrasset) to support the relaunch of the local gold mine. Sonarem Ettakwine is present in the Ouenza, Bir El Ater and Bled El Hadba (Tébessa) mining poles, and also offers management and accounting training to Sonarem complex subsidiaries.

A research hub for mining innovation

As part of its drive for innovation, the company plans to set up a research center dedicated to the mining industry. This center will bring together national and international experts to build up a repertoire of specialists and provide technical support to companies in the sector through consultancy and expertise assignments.

With these initiatives, Sonarem Ettakwine confirms its commitment to training and innovation, representing essential levers for the competitiveness and sustainability of the mining sector in Algeria.
