At the 2025 Private Sector Forum held in Algiers as part of the IDB Group's Annual Meetings, Alp Topcuoglu, an Algerian steel complex executive member of the Board of Directors, announced that flat steel exports should reach USD 1 billion in 2025, with an expected increase in 2026. This performance is based on the new flat steel plant that was commissioned.

He highlighted the obstacles encountered by Algerian products when exporting to Europe, despite the tax advantages offered to European companies operating in Algeria. The speaker highlighted the quality of Algerian steel, which is now being exported for use in the manufacture of European vehicles and revealed the existence of advanced negotiations with major car manufacturers for supply from 2026.

A new project to produce high-quality galvanised steel for the automotive, household appliance and cold chain industries is underway and should be operational by July 2026.
