Industrial projects with China's AVIC Group: Towards a strategic location

On Thursday, Industry Minister Sifi Ghrieb received a high-ranking delegation from the Chinese Aviation Industry Corporation (AVIC), a major global player in the aeronautical, mechanical, technological, and industrial sectors. The meeting, of major economic and strategic significance, focused on examining the conditions for launching future integrated industrial projects in Algeria, according to an official statement from the Ministry.

Led by Mr. Eric Yang, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the AVIC Group, the Chinese delegation was attended senior officials from the Ministry, representatives of the Algerian partner and executives from the "ELEC El Djazïar" Group. The Chinese giant AVIC, one of the heavy industry pillars, has more than 120 subsidiaries, employs nearly 500,000 people worldwide and operates in over 60 countries, covering fields ranging from aeronautics to medical technologies and green industries. During the discussions, the Minister emphasized Algeria's strategic interest in hosting structuring industrial investments, pointing to strategic advantages that the country enjoys as an industrial and commercial hub between Africa and Europe, as part of the economic reforms initiated by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune. Mr. Tebboune reminded the audience of the national ambition to diversify the economy and strengthen industrial sovereignty, underpinned by the President's economic reforms. For his part, the Chairman of AVIC's Supervisory Board expressed his interest in the Algerian market, affirming the Group's willingness to launch concrete transfer-technology industrial projects, localize production and create local added value. Discussions focused on future projects likely to contribute to the development of an integrated national industry and the strengthening of Algeria's export capacities to regional and international markets. At the end of the meeting, the Minister reaffirmed "the State's commitment to supporting these projects, in line with new economic trends aimed at diversifying the economy and achieving industrial sovereignty". In response, the Chairman of AVIC's Supervisory Board expressed concrete interest in the Algerian market, affirming the group's willingness to become involved in high-value-added projects, including technology transfer, industrial domiciliation, and the upgrading of national production capacities. The AVIC Group (Aviation Industry Corporation of China) is one of China's largest state-owned enterprises. Active in the fields of aeronautics, mechanics, advanced technologies, and medical equipment. It is developing projects in over 60 countries, with a strong capacity for export and industrial integration. This meeting is part of Algeria's growing efforts to attract high-tech industrial investment. The country is counting on structuring partnerships with major international groups to strengthen its productive fabric and consolidate its position as a regional export platform, in line with the economic guidelines set out by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
