Baladna project: Yacine Merabi proposes to train the workforce

Yesterday in Algiers, the Minister of Vocational Training and Education, Yacine Merabi, met Ali Al-Ali, advisor to the Board of Directors of the Qatari company Baladna, specializing in dairy production and cow breeding.

According to a Ministry press release, the talks focused on the possibility of “providing skilled labour in the agricultural and agri-food sectors, as well as in the processing industries”.

 

Both parties discussed “mechanisms for joint work to meet the needs of the integrated Algerian-Qatari project, the result of a partnership between the Fonds National d'Investissement (FNI) and the Qatari company Baladna for the dried milk production, located in the wilaya of Adrar.

 

In this respect, both parties discussed the possibility of training manpower at vocational training centres, the modalities of supporting and training candidates in these fields, in addition to the development of specific programs for these specialities.

 

The first phase of the milk powder production project allocated an area of 117,000 hectares for an estimated investment of 3.5 billion dollars, was launched during the week.

 

This “strategic” project, intended to transform the agricultural sector, should enable Algeria to move from being a dried milk importer to an exporter in the coming years.
