New directive: mandatory continuing education for driving schools

The Ministry of the Interior, Local Authorities, and Transportation has imposed a new requirement on driving schools: anyone who holds a certificate of professional and teaching competence and has stopped practising, or has not taught driving for two consecutive years, must undergo mandatory continuing education every five years.

The Transport Department of the Wilaya of Algiers has issued an official instruction to all driving schools and instructors, in accordance with the provisions of Article 16 of the Ministerial Decree of February 14, 2019, setting out the conditions for access to the profession of driving instructor.

According to this directive, all active driving instructors are required to undergo continuing education every five (05) years. This training, mandatory for instructors who have suspended their activity or have not practised for 02 years, lasts 05 days or 35 hours.

Management asks all driving school operators and instructors to submit their applications quickly to benefit from this mandatory training.

The required documentation includes:

-A written request specifying the category sought (A, B, C, or D),
-A birth certificate,
-A certificate of residence,
-A copy of the driver's license,
-Four passport photos,
- A copy of the teaching and professional qualification certificate corresponding to the desired category,
-As well as medical certificates relating to general medicine, chest and eyesight.

This measure aims to improve the quality of driver training and ensure that instructors have up-to-date technical and teaching skills.
