Algeria launches clothing manufacturing for 56 international brands

In his speech at the opening of the trade fair, Zitouni stressed that “the textile and leather industry in Algeria is experiencing remarkable progress on certain products”. He also said that “four agreements and contracts have been signed between Algerian importers for the same clothing brand with the public group Textiles, like Getex and Tayal brands to make international brands in Algeria for the first time”, stressing that “Algeria imports 56 international brands and, if all goes well, Algeria will start to make branded clothing to create wealth and transfer technology to Algeria”.

The Minister stressed that “raw materials exist to create jobs and wealth and transfer knowledge and technology to Algeria”, noting that “the industrialization process started with some brands and that there is a possibility to expand the industry to other international brands to reduce the import bill”.
