Adrar cement plant back online

On Saturday, Industry Minister Sifi Ghrieb re-commissioned the Timegtane Cement plant in the wilaya of Adrar, owned by the Gica, Algerian Cement Group.

The Minister of Industry, Mr. Ghrieb, hailed the rapid relaunch of a cement plant, reactivated in less than a month, as a strong sign of the authorities' commitment to revitalizing this industrial entity at the service of local and national development. This reopening follows instructions from President Tebboune at the Council of Ministers meeting on February 23, underlining the urgent need to relaunch this unit to support the cement market and create several hundred jobs in a region with low economic potential.


The Minister emphasized the cement plant's socio-economic value for the region along with the authorities' commitment to reintegrating former managers. Preparations are underway to activate a second production line with a capacity of 1.5 million tonnes per year, in addition to the first line already operational at one million tonnes/year.
