The joint Algerian-Turkish company Tosyali-Algeria will invest a billion dollars to quadruple the iron ore processing capacity of the Béchar unit from one to four million tons a year by 2027. This unit, built by the Chinese company Sinosteel, will come on stream in July 2025 and is part of the development of the Gara Djebilet mine to supply the national steel industry. A leader on the African continent, Tosyali-Algérie is strengthening its capacities to meet local demand and accelerate its focus on exports, with forecasts exceeding one billion dollars in 2025 and a 40% increase in production. The company will also extend its product range to include steel for the automotive and household appliance industries. Tosyali is working with Sonatrach on a green hydrogen project to support growth and meet European standards. The company is now integrated into Algeria's entire steelmaking value chain, consolidating its regional strategic position.
