CMA CGM: new FAK rates between Asia, Europe, and North Africa starting in January 2026

French shipping company CMA CGM has announced, in two separate press releases, that it is updating its FAK (Freight All Kinds) rates for several shipping routes connecting Asia and the Indian subcontinent to Europe and North Africa. These adjustments will take effect at the beginning of 2026 and are part of the company's regular rate updates.

CMA CGM published two press releases in December 2025 announcing that the update of FAK (Freight All Kinds) rates, applicable from January 2026. The first press release, dated 19 December, concerns shipments from Asian ports to the Mediterranean and North Africa. The rates, effective from 1 to January 14, are USD 4,000 for a 20-foot container and USD 5,500 for a 40-foot container bound for the Mediterranean. For North Africa, the rates are higher: USD 5,500 (20 feet) and USD 8,500 (40 feet). The rates cover various categories of goods and include fuel surcharges, but not port charges or certain local charges.

The second announcement, published on 24 December, sets the new FAK rates for routes from north-west India and Pakistan to northern Europe, the Mediterranean and North Africa. From 5 January 2026 and until further notice, the rate is USD 1,800 for Europe and the Mediterranean, and USD 2,800 for North Africa, for both container sizes. These rates apply only to dry cargo.
