Batna: 55,000-ton clinker exported to Peru and Ivory Coast

The Société des Ciments d'Aïn Touta (SCIMAT) (Aïn Touta Cement Company) is launching a major export operation from its Tilatou cement plant in the Batna wilaya. This first shipment of 2025 comprises 55,000 tons of clinker, divided between Peru and Côte d'Ivoire, marking a significant step in the development of Algerian exports.

A strategic distribution of exports

The official launch of the operation took place in the presence of the Minister for the Pharmaceutical Industry, Ouacim Kouidri, and the Wali, Mohamed Benmalek. According to SCIMAT CEO Maamar Bahloul, 30,000 tonnes are destined for the Peruvian market, while 25,000 tonnes will be shipped to Côte d'Ivoire. This initiative is part of an expansion strategy towards South America.

Promising prospects for 2025

SCIMAT, a subsidiary of Groupe Industriel des Ciments d'Algérie (GICA), is continuing its export dynamic, having exported over 60,000 tonnes of clinker in 2024, mainly to Tunisia. The company plans to expand into new markets, particularly in Africa, while maintaining its commitment to satisfying local demand.

Significant economic impact for the region

The wilaya of Batna has high ambitions for 2025, aiming to exceed the previous year's export volume of 250 million dollars. This development is underpinned by the success of companies such as Holcim El Djazaïr, which has achieved remarkable results, exporting 3.1 million tonnes of cement and clinker by 2024.

Modernizing port infrastructures

Algeria's port infrastructures are being modernized to support this growth in exports. The port of Annaba has adopted a continuous working system, while the port of Béjaïa is developing its export capacities, notably for grey cement.
