Indeed, the Society for Economic Studies and Investment Development (SEEDI) has called on economic operators to participate in the second African Conference on Export and Logistics.
Over 200 domestic and foreign exporters are expected in Algiers
This edition, according to the company, which specialises in investment consultancy, research and support, and aims to contribute to the national drive towards an economy based on innovation, exports, knowledge and national skills, is being organised under the patronage of the Minister for Foreign Trade and Export Promotion. “This major international conference aims to improve the business climate and examine the various means and measures designed to facilitate access for Algerian and foreign investors and exporters to the various African markets. It is also intended to enable them to make their needs and offerings known, thereby fostering the establishment of new partnerships or cooperation with various African economic actors and decision-makers,” the firm stated in a press release.
She notes that over 200 domestic and foreign exporters are expected to attend this year’s event, along with 25 experts in various economic fields – notably exports and logistics – some fifteen public bodies responsible for the organisation and management of the national economy, and delegations from over 30 African countries.
Focus on the second phase of the AfCFTA
For SEEDI, this event serves as a forum for national and international dialogue, following Algeria’s official accession to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). “This event will be an essential forum for reflection, dialogue and inter-African meetings to highlight the second phase of the AfCFTA agreements relating to intellectual property rights, investment and competition policy, with a view to actively contributing to the realisation of the objectives of the African Union’s Agenda 2063,” explain the organisers, noting that a significant portion of the event will be dedicated to the new provisions and incentives introduced by the government to benefit Algerian exporters, ensuring the optimal success of their commercial operations in Africa. Open to all economic sectors, they add, the conference is based on diversity, exchange and support for exports from Algeria, as well as the building of sustainable partnerships.
“We also hope to place an export-oriented culture at the heart of economic practices in Algeria, across all sectors. This conference also aims to encourage economic operators to enhance both the quality and quantity of domestic production by promoting national expertise, with a view to fostering greater access to African markets,” they report, adding that issues ranging from controlling logistics costs to identifying opportunities to promote Algerian products in African markets will be central to this edition, which targets the most strategic sectors, such as agriculture and agricultural machinery, agri-food, heavy and light industries, textiles and services. Furthermore, through this initiative, SEEDI also seeks to encourage investors to reconsider their development plans with a view to establishing an export-oriented investment and production strategy. A B2B day will be held alongside this conference, bringing together participants, investors, producers, exporters and logistics providers, to secure new trade agreements between Algeria and African countries.
