2 Algerian olive oil brands win awards in Italy

The 2 brands are “Dahbia”, which won the gold medal, and “Chibi”, distinguished with a silver medal, according to the official results published on the competition website, an annual event dedicated to extra virgin olive oil.

Dahbia olive oil, which has already shone at several international competitions in Japan, Greece, Italy, France, and Switzerland, is produced by Hakim Alileche's farm, which covers more than 40 hectares in the Benhar region of Aïn Ouessara.

 

As for 'Chibi' olive oil, produced since 1920 at Tirmitine in the wilaya of Tizi Ouzou, by a family business, has also won prizes in several international competitions, notably in Germany and the United Kingdom.

 

Prize-giving ceremony on 12 July in Rome

 

The EVO IOOC (Extra Virgin Olive Oil - Italy International Olive Oil Contest) is considered one of the most prestigious competitions in the sector. It is ranked second in the world, after the Mario Solinas competition, organised each year by the International Olive Oil Council to reward the best extra virgin olive oils.

 

Organisers have announced, "The 2025 edition of the EVO IOOC competition brought together hundreds of producers. An international panel of judges  assessed the competing oils according to rigorous criteria: aromatic balance, intensity, purity, and extraction technique. The awards ceremony for this 10th edition will be held on 12 July in Rome, at the Acquario Romano exhibition and cultural events centre.
