Expert Younès Grar advocates encouraging electronic payment to reduce the size of the informal market, estimated at between 60 and 90 billion dollars. He proposes incentives, such as a 5% reduction on certain administrative services, to capture at least 10% of this market or around 6 billion dollars.
Grar stresses that the increase in electronic payments, particularly in the insurance sector, will help modernize the economy. He sets ambitious targets: to reach 30 to 40% electronic payments within 4 to 5 years, and 90% within 10 years.
However, to succeed in this transition, he insists on reinforcing the banking infrastructure and reassuring citizens about the security of transactions. Raising awareness and supporting merchants are essential to building confidence in these new practices.
