The Prime Minister conveyed the fraternal greetings of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to the Tunisian President, reaffirming the strategic importance that the latter attaches to the development of relations between the two countries. He emphasised the Algerian Head of State's ongoing commitment to working with President Kaïs Saïed to build a partnership based on integration, solidarity and complementarity, continuing the momentum launched during the 2021 state visit.
For his part, President Kaïs Saïed expressed his esteem for President Tebboune and his desire to continue working together towards ever stronger and more ambitious cooperation.
A joint strategic committee
The meeting provided an opportunity to review preparations for the Joint Algerian-Tunisian High Commission, scheduled for tomorrow. Both parties emphasised the importance of this meeting in consolidating the institutional and legal framework of the partnership and paving the way for a renewed phase of sectoral cooperation.
An economic forum offering opportunities
Discussions also focused on promising prospects for trade and investment, which will be the focus of the Algerian-Tunisian Economic Forum to be held this evening. The event will bring together a large number of economic operators from both countries and, according to Mr Sifi, will illustrate "the considerable potential of an integrated economic partnership for development and shared prosperity".
Regional convergence
The two leaders also reaffirmed the complete convergence of the two countries' positions on regional and international issues, particularly the Palestinian cause. They reiterated their support for the Palestinian people in establishing an independent state with Al-Quds as its capital.
The situation in Libya was also discussed, with an exchange on possible ways to support the political process in this neighbouring country.
