A growing number of Algerian businesses are actively engaging in the circular economy and waste management, including hazardous waste, contributing to environmental protection and job creation. Green Sky, a company specializing in the recovery of industrial waste (plastic, paper, wood), now exports 250,000 recycled pallets per year to Portugal and Spain. It also plans to open a new plant to recycle plastic bottles used in the food industry.

Collection circuits are set up with start-ups, promoting local employability. Green Sky also works with universities to integrate research findings into its processes. The company also manages hazardous waste via an incineration centre in Chlef, equipped with zero-emission Belgian technology.

For its part, Tonic Industrie, which specialises in paper recycling, is developing a system to integrate "citizen collectors" into a legal framework, in collaboration with start-ups and micro-enterprises. It has also created a Research & Development department.

As for NCC Environnement, which collects and processes household and industrial waste, it uses foreign partners to process hazardous waste due to the high cost of the necessary technologies. However, it plans to open a local incineration facility in 2027 to reduce the costs associated with exporting this waste.
