On the sidelines of the National Conference on Agricultural Modernization in Algiers, Minister Yacine Oualid announced the full relaunch of the agro-industrial project in Timimoun, carried out in partnership with the Italian group Bonifiche Ferraresi. Initially focused on growing durum wheat and pulses, the project is now expanding to include milk and red meat production. This expansion reflects the growing interest of Italian investors in the Algerian agricultural sector.
The $420 million project covering 36,000 hectares includes the cultivation of cereals and oilseeds, and the construction of agri-food processing units. It is closely supported by the Algerian government, in particular through the National Investment Fund (FNI) and a dedicated monitoring unit within the ministry. The partnership embodies a new dynamic of strategic agricultural cooperation between Algeria and Italy.
