Mr. Meghni Sandid told APS that the provincial commission responsible for granting concessions for the creation of aquaculture businesses proceeded on Sunday, as part of the clean-up of the register of investment projects in this sector, to cancel concessions whose beneficiaries had not fulfilled their contractual commitments to the sector.

This measure is part of the land consolidation process aimed at promoting investment in the province of Oran, he noted.

This is the second operation of this type after the one undertaken by the Directorate of Fisheries and Aquaculture in 2024, which recovered 125 hectares of maritime areas, bringing the total recovered area over the last two years to 273 hectares.

In this context, Mr. Meghni Sandid emphasized that the objectives set for 2025 include the recovery of 100 hectares, as part of operations to clean up and improve the governance of maritime and land use dedicated to this important activity.

He added that the reclaimed areas will subsequently be studied for new investment projects in the field of aquaculture, which will be examined "more carefully," particularly concerning the financial capacity of investors, to ensure the effective implementation of projects and avoid unnecessary freezing of public land.
