A meeting between Algerian and Nigerian officials, attended by senior representatives from both countries, provided an opportunity to explore prospects for bilateral cooperation, particularly in the hydrocarbon and mining sectors. Both sides praised the quality of their historic relations and expressed their shared desire to strengthen their partnership through concrete and sustainable projects.
The Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline (TSGP) project, which aims to transport Nigerian gas to Europe via Algeria, was at the heart of the discussions. The feasibility studies launched in March 2025 were examined, with a shared desire to accelerate their implementation. Discussions also focused on cooperation in training, regulation, and strategic planning in the energy sector.
The delegations emphasized the importance of coordination within regional organizations such as APPO, GECF, and OPEC. The Algerian minister highlighted the national energy policy based on South-South partnerships and Sonatrach's expansion in Africa. The Speaker of Nigeria's House of Representatives reaffirmed his country's commitment to strengthening cooperation with Algeria, praising the strategic potential of the Trans-Saharan gas pipeline.
