Algeria and Chad have agreed to strengthen their cooperation in the mining sector through the exchange of scientific and technical expertise, notably via the National Office for Geological and Mining Research (ORGM). A joint roadmap has been launched, including training courses, visits to Algerian mines, and working missions.
Algeria is committed to supporting Chad in the economic assessment of its mineral resources and their optimal exploitation. Discussions also focused on Chadian investments in Algeria, highlighting the strengths of the Algerian mining sector.
The Sonarem Group presented its experience in operating more than 80 mines and its industrial expertise, particularly in marble. The Chadian delegation praised the high standard of Algerian companies and invited Sonarem to visit Chad to explore its mining potential.
The two countries plan to formalise a memorandum of understanding and a cooperation agreement, with a clear action plan to promote sustainable development based on Africa's natural resources.
