Introduced by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to revitalize communities lacking in public infrastructure and socio-economic projects, the complementary development programs that have benefited some of the country's wilayas continue to attract the attention of the government and local executives.

More focus on service quality

At a meeting last Wednesday, the government examined the progress of the programs granted to the wilayas of Djelfa and Tindouf. This prioritization of development programs aimed at relaunching local communities and improving the living conditions of citizens was once again reiterated by the Minister of the Interior, Brahim Merad, Thursday at the APN.

Thus, to examine the level of support for operations linked to the professional training sector, the wali of Djelfa, Ammar Ali Bensaad, met with the design offices responsible for carrying out the projects registered in the title of this sector within the framework in particular of the complementary development program, calling on them from time to time to focus their efforts more on the quality of the services to be provided as well as on compliance with contractual deadlines.

Projects launched and others commissioned

Attention is also given to projects aimed at instilling a new local dynamic, municipalities in the Djelfa wilaya and beneficiaries of the complementary development program are continuing their mobilization. This reactivity is visible in El Guedid, Ain Feka, Birine, Guernine, and Had-Sahary. In the first municipality, the services responsible for developing the Hassi Messaadia Road over a distance of 16 km have increased the pace of work.

In the commune of Birine, where the authorities inspected the project to build an urban ward, which is estimated to be 55% advanced, a treatment room was inaugurated and a project to build a primary school was launched.

The Wilaya authorities also launched a project in the commune of Ain Feka to connect 200 dwellings to the electricity network, before inspecting the project to upgrade the local road linking a village to the RN 89 over a distance of 45 km. In Had Sahary, they inspected the construction of a CEM in the Bouira-Lahdab commune, 90% of the work of which has been estimated and commissioned, and a local stadium for the benefit of young people.

DZD 37 billion for access to drinking water

Progress is also being made in the Ain Oussara district. The local authorities have just started work on the electrification of 74 farms and the supply of electricity to 280 homes in the Didouche Mourad district, in addition to the project to divide the road linking the town of Guernini to the RN40 and the operation to connect 60 rural dwellings to the electricity network.

Other important operations were launched for the construction of educational facilities, the connection of several households to the gas and electricity networks, the improvement of access to drinking water by mobilising a budget of DA 37 billion, and the rehabilitation of roads, particularly for the benefit of the municipalities of Benhar, M'Liliha and Zaafrane.

Agricultural development a priority in Djelfa

The wilaya of Djelfa, following the President of the Republic's instructions, also gives top priority to agricultural activity..This has resulted in the construction of a strategic silo with a storage capacity of one million quintals and eight local silos with an estimated capacity of 50,000 quintals each.

The wilaya has also granted farmers more than 9,800 permits to drill wells for agricultural irrigation and has opened 200 km of rural roads. As a reminder, the wilaya of Djelfa benefited from a complementary development program approved by the President of the Republic in May 2023, with a financial value of DZD 185 billion including nearly 248 projects linked to 20 sectors.

18 projects of this complementary program in Tindouf

For its part, the wilaya of Tindouf, which will benefit from a complementary development program in November 2023, will ensure the completion of all administrative and technical measures allowing the effective launch of the operations registered under this program. A meeting of the local executive, chaired by Wali Dahou Mustapha, was recently held to review the procedures associated with this program.

Speaking about the expected dynamics of this program, Wali stressed that Tindouf will soon experience a new level of development through its concrete implementation, which he said will increase its economic attractiveness.

Pending the effective completion of the maturing phase of the studies in anticipation of the launch of the 18 projects of this complementary program with a budget of DA 29.5 billion, the Wali estimated that the other major projects launched for the exploitation of the Ghar Djebilet mine, the creation of a free zone, the strengthening of the railway network and the opening of an Algerian-Mauritanian border post will allow a real economic leap for the entire region.
