According to a statement from the ministry, this meeting is part of efforts to modernize the telecommunications sector and prepare for the launch of the 5G network. The minister emphasized that eSIM represents a qualitative leap in mobile phone services, as it allows multiple lines to be activated on the same device without a physical card. This innovation, he said, will help simplify subscription procedures, reduce SIM card imports, and enhance digital security. The adoption of this technology is part of the national digital transformation roadmap, which accompanies structural reforms in the sector.
In this regard, Mr Zerrouki called for close coordination between operators and the ARPCE to ensure infrastructure interoperability and the unification of technical standards. The minister also emphasized the importance of infrastructure sharing between operators, stressing that this is a strategic choice that will reduce investment costs and redirect resources to technical infrastructure for telephone and internet services. Finally, Mr Zerrouki reaffirmed that citizens remain at the heart of the sector's priorities, specifying that the integration of eSIM is part of the ministry's approach to offering modern, secure, and accessible digital services capable of strengthening Algeria's position in the field of modern communications.Sharing
