President Tebboune highlighted a breakthrough with the launch, for the first time since independence, of refined gasoline exports, marking a break with past dependence on imports. He ordered to hold a national energy conference to update the sector's priorities. On the international front, he instructed the Prime Minister to begin discussions with Mauritania to set up Naftal gas stations and to implement a plan to rationalise energy consumption, including the launch of prepaid cards in border areas. He also called for accelerating work on the Hassi Messaoud refinery to meet domestic demand and boost exports. In addition, Naftal has been granted exclusive rights to import and produce raw materials for lubricants, with other players becoming its customers. Finally, pending the development of local production, the importation of 500,000 tyres has been authorised, accompanied by a market study to be launched quickly.
