Speaking at the launch of the water cooling station project in the Ennasr district (municipality of Ouargla), the minister said that ‘the reuse of treated water is considered an essential option for upgrading sanitation facilities,’ adding that ‘this water can be reused in agriculture, industry, irrigation of green spaces or the creation of forest areas.’

These operations must be generalised and cover all regions of the country with water treatment and purification plants,’ he added, explaining that among the objectives set out, in accordance with the guidelines of the President of the Republic, is ‘the preservation of groundwater and the country's water resources’.

Mr Derbal also noted the ‘excessive waste of water’, particularly in areas where this resource is abundant, which he said was ‘unacceptable, as water is a resource that must be preserved’.

The minister also emphasised the need to take the necessary measures to ensure that all demineralisation plants throughout the wilaya of Ouargla are fully operational, to enable a regular supply of high-quality drinking water to the population.

The Ennasr drinking water cooling station project will receive sectoral funding (2024) of over 91 million Algerian dinars and is expected to take four (4) months to complete, according to its technical specifications.

The Minister of Hydraulics then inspected the hydraulic complex project for the social housing development site (4,500 plots) in the Bamendil area (municipality of Ouargla), which is scheduled for completion within 18 months.

In the Ziyaïna district (municipality of Rouissat), a project was launched to rehabilitate the drinking water distribution hydraulic complex, following the rehabilitation of the electromechanical facilities at its pumping station.

In the municipality of Hassi Benabdallah, the minister launched the construction of a wastewater treatment plant with a capacity to cover a population of 35,000, as well as the future 500-hectare industrial zone, it was reported.

At the end of his working visit to the wilaya of Ouargla, the Minister of Hydraulics travelled to the municipality of Sidi-Khouiled, where he launched a project for a pumping station, a pressure pipe and a sanitation network in the rural housing estate of Oum-Raneb.
