The inauguration of the Chahid Ayed El Haouas Centre of Excellence for Steel and Mechanical Industries in Bethioua was overseen by Minister Nassima Arhab. This centre, with 300 teaching places and modern infrastructure, aims to strengthen the link between vocational training and the economic fabric, with a variety of courses ranging from steelmaking to electrical engineering and the oil industry.
The minister emphasised the importance of raising awareness among young people and placing economic operators at the heart of priorities. An exhibition showcased the trainees' projects, while agreements were signed with LAMOA and SOMIZ for training and practical internships. LAMOA, which began operations in 2023, produces 220,000 tons per year and has already exported $8 million worth of goods, while SOMIZ is currently training 224 trainees in various specialities.
These initiatives are part of the national strategy to modernise vocational training, adapting it to the needs of businesses and technological advances, to consolidate industry as an engine of economic growth.
