Hydrocarbons and mining: Tafer takes part in a major event in London

The Secretary of State to the Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mining, responsible for Mining, Karima Bakir Tafer, took part in a major event, ‘Resourcing Tomorrow’, held from 1 to 4 December in London, the ministry said in a statement on Monday.

At the international event ‘Resourcing Tomorrow’ in London, which brought together more than 2,000 stakeholders from the mining, energy, technology and financial sectors, Ms Tafer represented Algeria by participating in several high-level panels alongside ministers and officials from advanced countries in the mining sector. Discussions focused on securing mineral resources, developing supply chains, international cooperation and the importance of strategic minerals in the global energy transition.


Ms Tafer presented Algeria's roadmap for the development of the mining sector, highlighting the exploitation of rare minerals, local processing, geological research and ongoing legal reforms. She emphasised that Algeria is positioning itself as a reliable partner thanks to its diversified resources and its desire to attract responsible investment through the new mining law. Algeria reaffirmed its willingness to strengthen international cooperation, particularly through technology transfer and training partnerships.
