"The completion of this wastewater treatment plant is thus a continuation of our environmental approach and strengthens our arsenal of measures to reduce the ecological impact of our activities," stated the speaker, accompanied by Christian Stammkoetter, President of the Africa, Middle East, and Asia region, and Vikram Agarwal, Global Operations Director. Mr. Sudre expressed his hope that the completion of this wastewater treatment plant "can be a source of encouragement for all economic actors in the industrial zone of Taharacht and can provide a positive impetus for the development of environmental protection infrastructure throughout the region."

"Danone Djurdjura Algeria" inaugurated this industrial wastewater treatment plant (STEP) near its dairy product manufacturing complex located in the industrial zone of Taharacht, Akbou, in the Bejaia province, on the occasion of World Environment Day, which coincides with June 5th. This industrial wastewater treatment plant, with a total capacity of 1,200 m3 and expandable to 2,000 m3, will treat water from the dairy product manufacturing complex and will complement a set of measures aimed at reducing the ecological footprint of "Danone Djurdjura Algeria's" activities.

"The completion of this wastewater treatment plant is part of the sustainable development strategy deployed by "Danone Djurdjura Algeria," which, for several years now, has been multiplying initiatives in favor of environmental preservation, such as its gradual transition to regenerative agriculture, which has allowed it to reduce its carbon emissions by 11% from 2020 to 2023, as well as through the recycling of nearly 100% of its industrial waste," indicates a statement from this multinational, established in Algeria since 2001.

It is worth mentioning that "Danone Djurdjura Algeria" also "commits to the development of the dairy industry, notably through the emblematic H'libDzair initiative, which supports breeders in the region and has enabled the company to achieve an 80% integration rate of raw milk into its products," by also choosing a supply policy focused on local partners, which allows the company "to achieve an overall integration rate of 75%, thereby contributing to the reduction of the ecological footprint through the reduction of carbon emissions related to goods transportation."

Launched in 2017, the "Danone One Planet. One Health" framework reflects the group's belief that human health and planet preservation are interdependent, as stated in the document from "Danone Djurdjura Algeria," which is part of this approach "by offering Algerian consumers healthy and sustainable products to combine nutritional quality with social, societal, and environmental impact."

It is worth noting that "Danone Djurdjura Algeria (DDA)" was established in 2001 through a merger between the multinational group Danone and the Algerian dairy Djurdjura, with its dairy product manufacturing complex located in the industrial zone of Taharacht in Akbou.
