During this meeting, the Head of State welcomed a historic milestone: Algeria is officially entering the field of exporting locally refined fuel. Long an importer, it is taking a strategic step forward thanks to the development of its refining and production capacities.

This breakthrough now allows Naftal to expand beyond its borders, starting with Mauritania. The president has tasked Prime Minister Seifi Ghrib with initiating the necessary discussions with Mauritania to bring this project to fruition.

Naftal strengthened in its role as national operator

In another development, the head of state has called for consolidating Naftal's mission by granting it the exclusive prerogative to import and produce oil raw materials. The other companies concerned will become Naftal customers, to ensure greater consistency in the distribution and quality of products sold on the domestic market.

The president also emphasised the development of a genuine tyre manufacturing industry in Algeria. He asked the Minister of Industry to conduct a market study as soon as possible.

Pending the establishment of a robust supply chain, the Council of Ministers has approved the import of 500,000 tyres for trucks, buses, and tourist vehicles.
