Industrial cooperation: Bavaria confirms Germany's commitment

Algeria and Germany have two economic visions that can converge in a perspective outlined by the authorities of both countries through a vision of a strengthened partnership sketched out on Thursday in Algiers during a meeting between the Minister of Industry, Yahia Bachir, and the State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy, Regional Development and Energy of the German state of Bavaria, Tobias Gotthardt.

Algeria, committed to a strategy of industrial recovery, is seeking to fill its engineering gaps in several key sectors. Germany, a long-standing partner of Algerian industry (mechanical engineering, textiles, chemicals, etc.), is once again being called upon to contribute its expertise, while its own industrial fabric is undergoing a partial reorientation, particularly in the wake of the war in Ukraine.

During a meeting at the Ministry of Industry, the two delegations—including representatives from the Algerian-German Chamber of Commerce (AHK) and major German companies— explored joint investment projects. The focus was on the mechanical and chemical industries and equipment manufacturing. The Algerian minister invited German companies to take advantage of the favourable investment climate in Algeria, to revive old units created in cooperation with Germany, and to consider partnerships including equity investments in these companies, for sustainable technology transfer.

Mr Gotthardt announced the upcoming visit of a delegation of German investors interested in strategic projects in Algeria, particularly in agricultural equipment and chemical industries. This rapprochement is based on a longstanding relationship of trust and aims to build high-value-added industrial partnerships.
