Arkab welcomes the Vice President of the World Bank for the MENAP region

The Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, yesterday received the Vice President of the World Bank (WB) for the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan (MENAP) region, Osman Dioun, who is visiting Algeria for the African Start-up Conference.

Both parties discussed prospects for cooperation, particularly in providing technical and financial support for major projects in the sector. This was stated in a press release issued by the Ministry of Hydrocarbons following the meeting.

On this occasion, the minister gave a comprehensive presentation on the national strategy for the sector to the World Bank representative and his accompanying delegation. The focus was on seawater desalination, optimising the use of mineral resources and developing hydrogen. The two parties also discussed Algeria's efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and its carbon footprint. For his part, Osman Dioun welcomed the positive momentum in Algeria's mining development. He expressed the World Bank's willingness to support Algeria in developing its oil, gas and petrochemical industries.
