Arkab receives the CEO of the Brazilian company WEG

On Tuesday in Algiers, Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines Mohamed Arkab received a delegation from Brazilian company WEG, a world leader in the manufacture of electrical, electronic and technological equipment, led by the company's CEO, Francisco Martinez.

A meeting between Sonatrach, Sonarem and WEG executives was held in the presence of officials from the relevant ministry. The meeting provided an opportunity to assess the current state of cooperation between the parties and explore prospects for expanding it in the oil, gas and mining sectors. Discussions focused on strengthening technical and technological cooperation, particularly in equipment manufacturing, mining processing, seawater desalination, digital solutions, renewable energies and energy storage.


The aim is also to strengthen WEG's local presence in Algeria through production and maintenance projects, in accordance with the memorandum signed with Sonatrach in May 2023. The creation of an electrical equipment maintenance centre was also discussed, along with the importance of developing local skills. The Minister of State emphasised the need to translate these partnerships into tangible projects with a clear roadmap. WEG reaffirmed its commitment to investing sustainably in Algeria and making it a regional platform for industrial and technological development.
