Algeria–India: towards a stronger economic partnership

The Director General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI), Mr Omar Rekkache, received the Indian Ambassador to Algeria, Ms Swati Vijay Kulkarni, in Algiers on Sunday to discuss ways and means of strengthening economic cooperation and investment between the two countries, according to a statement from the agency.

A meeting was held at the AAPI headquarters to discuss strengthening economic cooperation between Algeria and India, with a focus on strategic sectors including the pharmaceutical industry. Several projects led by Indian companies operating in Algeria, including the ‘Tenshi’ pharmaceutical company, were discussed. Discussions also focused on plans for a 40-company delegation visit next January to organise B2B meetings with Algerian operators. The AAPI reaffirmed its willingness to mobilise all its resources to ensure the success of this initiative and reiterated its openness to all forms of cooperation with India. The two parties agreed to maintain close coordination to ensure the implementation of solid and sustainable investment projects.
