Speaking at the Algeria–Vietnam Economic Forum, Minister of Foreign Trade, Kamel Rezig, emphasised the need to strengthen bilateral cooperation through productive and sustainable partnerships. He noted that trade between the two countries had grown steadily, reaching $3.7 billion between 2001 and 2024. Algerian exports to Vietnam, particularly in agriculture, agri-food, and industrial goods, have increased significantly, while Vietnamese imports reached $365.5 million in 2024.

Rezig advocated moving beyond the traditional import-export model towards industrial partnerships based on joint manufacturing and integrated value chains. To this end, he announced the establishment of the Algeria–Vietnam Business Council, which will be responsible for structuring economic cooperation, identifying investment opportunities, and supporting joint projects.

By combining Vietnam’s industrial expertise with Algeria’s strategic geographical position, the two nations intend to establish a robust economic hub that connects the Mediterranean and the Pacific. The forum, which brought together hundreds of businesspeople from both countries, marks the beginning of a new phase focused on productive investment and shared strategic development.
