Algeria – China: New momentum for bilateral partnership

China's ambassador to Algeria, Dong Guangli, has announced that trade between the two countries will once again exceed $10 billion in 2025, confirming an upward trend that is consolidating the strategic partnership between Algiers and Beijing. This growth is part of a shared desire to broaden and deepen cooperation that has become fundamental to both economies.

China's ambassador to Algeria, Dong Guangli, presented the prospects of China's 15th Five-Year Plan and new opportunities for cooperation with Algeria. He highlighted the continued expansion of economic relations, particularly following the signing of eight major agreements totalling more than $2 billion, bringing Chinese investments to nearly $7 billion. Key projects are moving forward, including the Digital Services Centre, the East-West mining lines, and the Guangzhou-Algiers air link.

The Sino-Algerian partnership is based on close political dialogue that strengthens their strategic coordination. The mining sector plays a central role in this rapprochement, with projects such as Gara Djebilet and China's willingness to support the local development of Algerian resources.

The ambassador also highlighted the revival of human, cultural, and medical exchanges, marked by the opening of the Confucius Institute and the long tradition of cooperation in the field of health. Finally, he emphasized a shared vision focused on innovation, industry, and skills transfer, with China wishing to support Algeria's economic diversification in a spirit of win-win partnership.
