L'Expression: How do you see the university's contribution to the national economy?

Souhil Meddah: It's a vital utility to rely on the connectivity of academic knowledge acquired over years. It's about preparing new elites for future professions.

At present, students enrolled in technical courses before the baccalaureate are opting for courses in education which provide them with opportunities and employment quickly. There is not yet a research model that allows students to become interested in technical development.

Do you think this will change with new guidelines, such as the creation of the National Graduate School of Mathematics and the National Graduate School of Artificial Intelligence?

Absolutely, there will be change, provided that the entire preparatory process is reviewed so that it is developed in the direction of technological development.

The goal is to give the national economy an opportunity to be up to date, to develop new markets in technology and to prepare our ecosystem for a new economic order.
